Iran - Death Throes of a Thuggish Regime

Iran - Death Throes of a Thuggish Regime By Struan Stevenson  Using the powers of the February Decrees and Enabling Act in 1933/34 the Nazis consolidated their power and set about preventing any possible opposition. This included the use of fear and violence through Nazi organisations such as the SS and Gestapo. Hitler’s reign of terror spread far beyond the borders of Germany and quickly engulfed vast swathes of Europe and Africa. The parallels with modern Iran are stark and terrifying. Following the Iranian revolution which brought Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini to power in February 1979, the Iranian constitution was altered to introduce the system of velayat-e-faqih, or guardianship of the Islamic jurist, effectively providing the Supreme Leader with power claimed to come directly from God. Like Hitler, Khomeini moved rapidly to eliminate opposition to his clerical dictatorship, ruthlessly murdering tens of thousands of political opponents whom he claimed ...

Meet the MEK: Iranian freedom fighters working to effect regime change

Meet the MEK: Iranian freedom fighters working to effect regime change On a recent business trip to Albania, I was invited to visit the new camp of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, or the Mojahedin-e Khalq ( MEK ), still being built about 45 minutes outside of Tirana, on the way to the Albanian coast. I accepted the invitation, although I must admit, I had no idea what to expect upon reaching the sprawling facility which is the new home for approximately 3,200 of the Iranian resistance movement’s personnel, after being forced out of Iraq by violence from the Iranian-backed government. I want to write more about the group and its agenda in the near future, but today I just want to explore what I found at ‘Ashraf 3’, which is the name the MEK has given the new camp, after the first Ashraf on the Iraqi border, where the group launched raids into Iran almost two decades ago. With the Trump administration pulling out of the so-called Iran deal, the MEK has been g...

This is the third consecutive day this protest rally is being held outside the regime’s municipality office. Iran Regime Tortures Political Prisoners by Denying Medical Care   Saeed Shirzad, a political prisoner in Rajaee Shahr prison in Karaj, has been refused urgent medical care despite doctors requested his transfer to hospital for his severe kidneys’ failure a month ago. While the prosecutor’s office has assured that he would receive treatment a month ago, prison authorities have prevented this tr...

Alarm bells over Iran’s terrorist operations at the heart of EU

Hamid Bahrami Alarm bells over Iran’s terrorist operations at the heart of EU This year has been one of the most challenging ones for the security services in European countries as they have yet to form a firm counter-terrorism strategy to halt state-sanctioned terrorist operations across the EU. If the ISIS targeted people arbitrarily without any operation center in the EU, Iran’s regime uses its embassies to organize terrorist operations across Europe as part of its desperate response to domestic crises and growing dissent inside the country. The US administration commended this week the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama’s decision to expel the Iranian ambassador and another diplomat for plotting “terrorist attacks” in Albania, as said by Secretary Pompe. ANALYSIS:  What needs to be done over Iran’s crisis in 2019?    President Trump thanked Mr Rama for “steadfast efforts to stand up to Iran and to counter its destabilizing activities and efforts to ...

President Trump has written personally to Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulating him for countering Iran's "destabilizing activities and efforts to silence dissidents around the globe." His letter was reinforced by messages of support from U.S. national security adviser  John Bolton  and Secretary of State  Mike Pompeo . THE MEK AT ASHRAF 3

Ashraf 3 - Albania THE MEK AT ASHRAF 3 INU - Back in 2013, the small nation of Albania began to take in the first Iranian dissidents from the People's Mojahedin of Iran ( PMOI/MEK ) and offer them refuge after the years of hell they had endured in Camp Ashraf and Camp Liberty inside Iraq. After a three-year-long transfer process, some 3,000 MEK members are safely housed in special accommodation in Tirana, provided by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. This greatly angered the Iranian Regime, who had spent years trying to assassinate the MEK in Iran and in Iraq, where they were supposed to be protected. Now the MEK, the democratic opposition to the Regime would be able to largely live in peace and safety, which would only allow them to focus more energy on bringing freedom and democracy to the Iranian People. Soon enough, the time came for the MEK to move out of the accommodation arranged by the UNHCR and into their own space...
