Rouhani Threatens the U.S. With New Centrifuges
The Iranian Regime President Hassan Rouhani has threatened
the U.S. with unveiling more advanced centrifuges after Washington designated
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as a “terrorist organization”.
Speaking on April 9 at the ceremony for 13th National Day of
Nuclear Technology in Iran, Rouhani addressed Washington, saying, "You
were afraid of IR1 centrifuges, today we unveiled IR6, and if you continue to
walk down this road, you will see cascades of IR8 in the near future,"
The West has repeatedly raised its concerns over the
continuation of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, including the
installation of more advanced centrifuges.
Led by the U.S., Western countries have always been worried
that the Islamic Republic might ultimately succeed in developing nuclear
weapons and threaten their allies in the region.
Zarif Visits Guard Commanders in a Show of Support
Media in Iran report that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad
Zarif and his deputies have paid a visit to the commanders of the Islamic
Revolution Guards Corps following the U.S. decision to designate the
controversial military force as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization”.
Present in the meeting were Mohammad Ali Jafari the top
commander of IRGC, Qassem Soleimani the commander of the extraterritorial Qods
force and commanders of other main branches of the Guards.
The U.S. took its decision arguing that the IRGC is a vehicle
for Iran’s clerical rulers to support terrorist groups in the Mideast and
around the world.
In a related development, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
responded to a Fox News question about Soleimani on April 9, responded "He
is a terrorist".
Pompeo Says Iran Tied to Al-Qaeda
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday accused Iran
of ties to al-Qaeda.
Pompeo said: “The factual question with respect to Iran’s
connections to al-Qaeda is very real. They have hosted al-Qaeda, they have
permitted al-Qaeda to transit their country,”.
He added: “There is no doubt there is a connection between
the Islamic Republic of Iran and al-Qaeda. Period, full stop,”.
Iran is believed to have been the longtime base of Hamza bin
Laden, the son of late al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden.
Continuation of Flood in Iran
As floodwaters continue to threaten hundreds of thousands of
people across the western and southwest regions of Iran, locals in Khuzestan
Province are particularly facing escalating dangers.
Reports indicate that floods that have ravaged Iran since
March 17 have now reached the southwestern city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province.
More than 100,000 people living on the fringes of the city
who were already suffering from poverty were affected by the floods.
This happened after flood barriers broke and water from
Karkheh River entered through the Salman Channel situated at the entrance of
Ahvaz.
