Russia Rejects Iran Regime's Missile Request Amid Gulf Tension
Russia has rejected a request by the Iranian regime to buy S-400 missile defense systems, concerned that the sale would stoke more tension in the Middle East, according to two people with knowledge of the matter, including a senior Russian official.
The request was rebuffed by President Vladimir Putin, Bloomberg reported.

Crackdown Continues as Fresh Charges Brought Against Civil Society Activist
The mother of Atena Daemi, the jailed civil society activist who is serving a five-year prison sentence, says there are new charges against her daughter, stemming from letters and statements she has made while in prison.
Masoumeh Nemati said that her daughter had been transferred from the women’s ward at Evin Prison to appear at the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court on May 30.
Daemi faced fresh charges of “insulting the Supreme Leader" and “propaganda against the regime” in connection with her recent correspondence and activities.
According to Nemati, her daughter had not been allowed to meet with her lawyer, who was also banned from court proceedings.
Nemati also said fresh charges had been brought against civil rights activist Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee. In 2016, Iraee was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of “insulting Islamic sanctities” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Four Kulbars Were Killed or Injured by Police
In the past 3 days, two Kulbars, or porters, were injured in Marivan and Urmia and two others, identified as Khaled Salimi and Akam Bardel were killed by patrol police in Piranshahr.
In 2018, 48 Kulbars were killed and 104 had been injured by police patrol in the west and north west of Iran.
Kulbars (also known as carriers) carry goods across borders for their living.

Iran Regime's Interference in Yemen Violates UN Resolutions
An Arab Coalition spokesperson has said that Iranian interference in Yemen is a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.
Colonel Turki al-Maliki told a press conference that the Iranian-allied Houthi militia is the first militia in the world which possess ballistic missiles.
He said that Iran’s regime seeks through its proxies in Yemen to find a foothold in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
He added that Iran’s regime is supplying missiles, drones and explosive-laden boats to the Houthis.

Iran news in brief, February 1, 2018 1- Facebook, Twitter take down disinformation campaigns linked to Iran Facebook says it has removed almost 800 “coordinated, inauthentic” pages, groups, and accounts directed from Iran that were part of a manipulation campaign operating in more than 20 countries.
